Un grande rettangolo verde nel cuore del Quartiere Poggio Tre Galli, zona Ovest di Potenza, in un territorio collinare con ampia zona pianeggiante: così si presenta ai visitatori il ‘Parco dell’Europa Unita’.
Inaugurato nel 2008, in poco meno di un anno diventa punto di eccellenza, e di forza, innanzitutto del quartiere; l’elemento paesaggio, la sua enfatizzazione e riqualificazione, con la realizzazione del parco, è stato l’asse portante del totale recupero di questa parte della città.
Il progetto valorizza la fluidità della lunga corte a giardino, ed al contempo si struttura intorno ad un sistema di aree e percorsi che offrono vari modi di incontrarsi: suggestiva la passeggiata nella loro diversa configurazione spaziale, con le differenti sistemazioni del verde, il cambio dei materiali delle pavimentazioni e degli arredi (suggerisce nell’alternarsi delle stagioni).
L’intervento di realizzazione del parco urbano ha letteralmente innescato un processo di recupero delle facciate degli edifici posti a margine dell’area, migliorando di fatto l’intero quartiere, che ha registrato anche un aumento delle attività commerciali.
La caratterizzazione di aree del parco con attrezzature sportive-ricreative ed il percorso ciclo-pedonale ne hanno incentivato l’utilizzo non solo da parte di singoli fruitori, ma anche di associazioni sportive dilettantistiche. Nei pressi del parco è ubicata l’area verde “Radici Park” inaugurata nel mese di settembre 2018, destinata alle biciclette e ai cani e il parco Grazia Gioviale, intitolato ad una vittima di femminicidio della provincia.
A large green rectangle in the heart of the Poggio Tre Galli district, in the west of Potenza, in a hilly area with a large flat area: this is how the ‘Park of United Europe’ is presented to visitors.
Inaugurated in 2008, in just under a year it becomes a point of excellence, and strength, above all of the neighborhood; the landscape element, its emphasis and redevelopment, with the creation of the park, was the cornerstone of the total recovery of this part of the city.
The project enhances the fluidity of the long garden courtyard, and at the same time is structured around a system of areas and paths that offer various ways of meeting: suggestive the walk in their different spatial configuration, with the different arrangements of the greenery, the change of the materials of flooring and furnishings (suggesting the changing of the seasons).
The construction of the urban park literally triggered a process of recovery of the facades of the buildings located on the edge of the area, effectively improving the entire neighborhood, which also recorded an increase in commercial activities.
The characterization of park areas with sports-recreational equipment and the cycle-pedestrian path have encouraged their use not only by individual users, but also by amateur sports associations. Near the park is located the green area “Radici Park” inaugurated in September 2018, intended for bicycles and dogs and the Grazia Gioviale park, named after a victim of feminicide in the province.
