Si trova al n° 288 di Via Pretoria e deve il suo nome alla famiglia Biscotti, appartenente alla borghesia terriera del XVII secolo. L’edificio presenta l’ingresso principale su via Pretoria dal quale si accede ad una corte interna. La facciata è in pietra a faccia vista e laterizi, mentre il portale ad arco a tutto sesto è caratterizzato da due pilastri e dal cornicione su cui è posizionato un balcone con architrave in pietra sagomata, sostenuto da quattro mensole, tre con volute e motivi vegetali il quarto con un mascherone. La documentazione fotografica dimostra la presenza dello stemma di famiglia sull’archivolto del portale; del fregio attualmente non si conosce l’ubicazione. Nel palazzo ha abitato, con la famiglia, lo scrittore-giornalista Giovanni Russo, redattore del Corriere della Sera, da poco scomparso.
It is located at n° 288 of Via Pretoria, and owes its name to the Biscotti family, belonging to the 17th century land bourgeoisie. The building has its main entrance on via Pretoria, which leads to an internal courtyard. The facade is made of exposed stone and bricks, while the round arched portal is characterized by two pillars and the cornice on which a balcony with a shaped stone architrave is positioned, supported by four shelves, three with scrolls and plant motifs, the fourth with a mask.
The photographic documentation demonstrates the past presence of the family crest on the archivolt of the portal; the current location is currently unknown. The writer-journalist Giovanni Russo, editor of the Corriere della Sera, who recently passed away, lived in the building with his family.
